Capacitors concept... I want to understand this please?
If a capacitor is connected to a battery and charged would anything happen if it was disconneted and then one end of the capacitor was connected to a large piece of metal? Would there be a reading inn the voltmeter?

yes and no depending on where the other end of the voltmeter is connected to , A) it will read a voltage if the other end of the volt meter lead was touch the the other terminal of the capacitor or you became ground, the capacitor will discharge itself through you it that happens, otherwis no, a capacitor stores electricity by charging the two plates that make itself up. until you discharge it , it fact act as dead short at high frequency, the higher the frequency, the closer to a dead short it is - In other words it pass ac currect and volgate if it has a cycle to it, however at DC it a infinite resistor to it, this is called reactance ( or ac resistance ). If you have studied a coil - It will allow DC through but not AC current and it effect are opposite to a capacitor and by connecting them together and if the frequency are right depending how they are connected together the two will allow one ac frequency through while blocking all the all the others or allow all the others through while blocking the one frequency . Quite useful to know. which you will study in more detail as your schooling move along .
