How do i open the floppy drive on a inspiron 530S?
I've just brought a inspiron 530S and i haven't got a usb hard drive yet but just for now i want to use floppy disks and i can't figure out how to open the floppy drive?
It has a push-button cover opposite of the CD/DVD drive bay where either the floppy drive or the 13 in 1 media reader is placed. If it has the media reader in it, it may not have the floppy drive? Though I admit I'm unfamiliar with these media readers.
You can goto Wal-Mart (Best Buy, CompUSA, Circuit City etc) and buy a cheap 512MB to 1-2GB flash memory stick for $16-$70. They'll hold a lot more then a floppy disk. It would take a little more over 350 floppy disks to hold the same amount of uncompressed data a 512MB flash stick would hold, for instance.
Example would be a PNY Attache USB 2.0 Flash Drive (I call them sticks) 512MB. It's been reliable for what I use it for, about $18 from Wal-Mart after taxes.
I'm surprised they still ship desktops with floppy drives in them since the majority of stores, at least in my area, don't even sell the disks anymore.
