Capacitor Lot
I need detailed instructions onhow to install a capacitor?
I just bought a 10 farad capacitor to power my rockford p3 12 inch and rockford p3 15 inch now from my understanding i run a power cord from the positive battery terminal to positive input terminal on my cap. From there I run the positive output to the B+ terminal on my rockford 550*2 amp. for the ground i just use either negative input or output on my cap and ground it. Now, so far if that is right do I leave my existing power cable from my positibe battery terminal to my amp and leave my amps existing grounding intact? Thanks a lot for the help
It sounds like your simply connecting a big polarized capacitor across your battery power wires to the amplifier for better filtering of noise that might be entering the amp via the DC power wires. So the plus terminal of the filter capacitor goes to the plus terminal wire from the battery, and the negative terminal of the filter capacitor goes to the negative wire from the battery. So the capacitor is in "parallel" with the battery terminals either at the battery or, preferably, at the amplifier DC power terminals.
